Matthew 8:8 - Embracing Humility

As we prepare our hearts and homes, reflecting on Matthew 8:8 takes on added significance. We use the centurion's acknowledgement of Jesus' authority as our own. He declared, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof," our pre-Communion prayer echoes this sentiment, a familiar refrain uttered in church.

At Mass, we emulate the soldier's humility, acknowledging that, despite our unworthiness, Christ's word can heal and renew. However, the regularity of these words necessitates a mindful engagement, ensuring their familiarity doesn't diminish their true meaning, especially as we ready ourselves during the Advent season.
